The spectral confocal sensor is based on the principle of spectral confocal imaging / color spectral confocal imaging. Its optical system generates the image of a point light source on the surface of an object. The backscattered light is collected by the same optical system and imaged at the pinhole. The pinhole filters the light, and only the light of a specific wavelength can be focused on the pinhole to reach the sensitive area of the spectrometer. The spectrometer interprets the sample position by identifying this wavelength. When the object is displaced within the measurement range, the spectral peak on the spectrometer will change accordingly.
